Social Media Policy

The adoption of this document establishes the social networking and social media policy for the City of Daytona Beach Shores (City). To address the fast-changing landscape of the Internet and the way City residents communicate and obtain information online, City departments may consider the use of social media to reach a broader audience. The City encourages the use of social media as a means of conveying City information to the public or promote the City's goals and objectives and to serve the interests of its citizens. The City has an overriding interest and expectation in deciding what is "spoken" on its behalf on social media sites.

This policy establishes guidelines for the use of social media within the scope of the City. The City reserves the right to engage in government speech as determined by the City Council and as implemented by the City Manager and the City Attorney.
