Utility Credits & Service Charges

Sewage credits may be issued for water use that does not impact the sanitary sewer system.

Water Line Leaks

In the case of water line leaks, any person wishing to receive credit must submit a formal request for credit with documentation to the Finance Department, to include an invoice for the repair from a licensed plumbing contractor or, if the property owner makes the repairs, a statement reflecting this and an invoice of the material used for the repair must be submitted. The City's sewer department will verify that no impact to the sewer system occurred as a result of the leak. The credit issued shall be for excess water consumption above the annual average for the prior 12 months, but in no way shall the sewer billing for the period in which the leak occurred be less than the consumption during the same period the previous year.

Pools

For water used to fill pools which do not impact the sanitary sewer system, any person wishing to receive credit for filling a pool must notify the City and pay the City a $16.50 service charge (at the Building Department) at least 48 hours in advance. The City sewer department must read the water meter both before and after the pool is filled in order for a sewer credit to be issued.

Other Water Uses

Any person wishing to receive credit for any other water use that does not impact the sanitary sewer system must, prior to such use, submit and have approved a request for such to the City Finance Department detailing the nature and time frame of such use. Any credit issued under such circumstances shall be for excess water consumption above the annual average for the prior 12 months, but in no way shall the sewer billing for the period in which the water use occurred be less than the consumption during the same period the previous year.
